HOUSTON (FOX 26) - A historic moment for the U.S. as President Donald Trump meets with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore, the first time that the leaders from both nations have ever met face to face.
The two leaders shook hands as they started the summit. The two countries have had a hostile relationship for half a century.
The whole purpose of the monumental meeting is to strike a deal over North Korea's nuclear weapons program.
Just a short time ago, President Trump referred to Kim as "little rocket man," now the two leaders are exchanging pleasantries. They met at around 9 a.m. in Singapore.
The White House said President Trump could be leaving Singapore early because negotiations had moved more quickly than expected.
Isiah Carey is joined by Dr. Peter Li from the University of Houston Downtown to discuss the summit.
