Houston police: Man shot on Southwest Freeway

Houston police provide details about a shooting that left a man injured on the Southwest Freeway.

Houston police are investing after a man was shot on the US-59 Southwest Freeway on Friday morning.

The shooting was reported around 8:40 a.m. in the 5200 block of US-59 near the I-610 West Loop.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene and found a man who had been shot in the chest and the right side of his body. He was transported to the hospital, and his condition is unknown at this time.

The driver was not injured and will be questioned by police.

The investigation is still in the early stages. Police say it’s unclear at this time if the shots came from inside or outside the vehicle. There were bullet holes in the windshield of the car.

Authorities say the shots are believed to have been fired by a shotgun, and a shotgun was recovered from a grassy area on the side of the freeway.

At this time, there is no description of another vehicle that may have been involved.
