Driver shot on Highway 290 in NW Harris County; police looking for shooter
JERSEY VILLAGE - Police in Jersey Village are calling on the public for any information on a suspected road rage shooting that happened on Highway 290 on Tuesday morning.
‘Isolated road rage incident'
What we know:
The shooting was reported in the eastbound lanes of Highway 290 near Jones Road. Investigators believed it happened between 7:50 and 7:58 a.m.
Police say one driver had just entered the highway and noticed a black sedan with dark tinted windows "weaving through traffic and using the shoulder to pass other vehicles," according to the department's press release.
The sedan then moved back into the regular lanes and maneuvered around the driver.
While passing, the sedan driver rolled down the passenger window and shot at the other driver multiple times. Police say the suspect vehicle then continued east on the Northwest Freeway.
The driver who was shot suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. The driver was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.
Detectives believe this shooting was an "isolated road rage incident."
