Santa Fe High School students and staff allowed to return for belongings
SANTA FE, Texas (FOX 26) - Santa Fe High School students and staff are being allowed back to the campus Tuesday to pick up their personal belongings left behind during the deadly shooting.
Santa Fe ISD Police Chief Walter Braun says people can go directly to the high school between noon and 4 p.m.
People are being asked to park in the front visitor lot, and they will only be able to enter on the east side of the school.
The following areas will be accessible:
• Main classroom wing
• Athletics locker rooms
• Administrative hallway
Due to the ongoing investigation of the school no cell phones or cameras are allowed.
Everyone will be asked to sign in upon entry and will be escorted to the area where their personal belongings were left.
It was an unsettling sight for dozens of Santa Fe students like freshman Jason Albritton, who returned to campus for the first time on Tuesday.
"Kimberly Vaughn was in my 4th period and Shana Fisher was in my 5th period. It's been really hard, at the vigils and stuff because you know, they were our friends. We saw them every day," Adams said.
"They were really nice people. I never would've thought this would happen to them. I talked to Shana on Thursday actually."
The tragedy has brought community members from near and far, to drop off flowers and balloons to the growing memorial that now rests outside the high school.
Former student Landry Wills said Ann Perkins was one of her favorite teachers.
