Reward has increased to $100,000 to find killer of Jazmine Barnes

As the search intensifies for the killer of 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes, the reward money for information in this case has now climbed to $100,000. The senseless murder of 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes has left people across the country looking for answers.

Some local community leaders believe it was a hate crime.

The shooting happened Sunday on the East Sam Houston Parkway feeder in northeast Harris County. LaPorsha Washington says she was driving with her four daughters when a white man in a red pickup truck opened fire on their car, shooting her in the arm and killing Jazmine.

Big celebrity names like Jada Pinkett Smith and Gabrielle Union have been vocal on social media. Union tweeted, "Find him! This evil monster must be stopped!"

Rapper Bun B also sent out a message, tweeting "Justice for Jazmine! Because no child of any color, race or religion anywhere should ever have to die like this. Ever!"

Jazmine's father Chris Cevilla is on the Factor to talk about this tragic situation, along with activist Deric Muhammad, attorney Lee Merritt, and Kisshima Williams, the mother of Avonta Williams.

The community rally for Jazmine Barnes will be held on Saturday, January 5th at 2019 at noon at the Walmart Parking Lot, 5655 Sam Houston Parkway, Houston, TX 77015. The funeral ceremony and balloon release in remembrance of Jazmine's life will take place on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 at Green House International Church located at 200 West Greens Road, Houston, TX 77067. The viewing will be held at 10 a.m. and the funeral will take place at 12 noon on Tuesday.
