Residents in Montgomery concerned after Amazon packages found dumped in vacant lot
MONTGOMERY, Texas - Some Montgomery residents are raising concerns after discovering Amazon packages discarded in vacant lots, miles away from their intended destinations. The situation has left residents questioning who is responsible for the abandoned deliveries.
Trinity Nieto, a Montgomery resident, told FOX 26 that she and her family were out on a walk in the Fairwater subdivision on January 3 when they noticed a delivery truck parked on a sidewalk next to an empty lot. "He had just enough time to dump two packages, peel off one of the labels, and he dipped off," Nieto said, explaining that the driver left quickly after abandoning the packages.
Among the items found was a large package meant for a woman in Walden, which the Nietos later found out contained a gift for her newborn baby. Their discovery added to mounting frustration among local residents, who reported similar incidents over the past several months. .
Amazon has acknowledged the issue, stating that they are investigating the matter. A company spokesperson confirmed they are working with local law enforcement to address the situation. This incident comes just weeks after a similar case in Lakeville, Massachusetts, where a delivery driver admitted to dumping around 80 packages in a wooded area due to stress.

Joshua Nieto, a former postal worker, expressed sympathy for the stress delivery drivers face but condemned the actions. "I get the angst, but to dump packages somewhere… that’s unfortunate," he said.
The Nietos also took the time to deliver the Walden-addressed package themselves.
If you find a dumped or abandoned package, your urged to report them to the carrier with as much detail as possible, which could help investigators trace the origin and prevent future occurrences.
An Amazon spokesperson also said local police have also been alerted and are looking into potential leads.
