Red Cross opens shelter in Montgomery County for those affected by tornadoes

The American Red Cross has opened an emergency shelter in Montgomery County to help those affected by the tornadoes. 

Red Cross workers are prepared to provide meals, a place to stay warm and a safe place to sleep. 

The shelter is located at the East Montgomery County Development Center at 16401 First Street, Suite 100, in Spendora, Texas.

What to bring

Anyone evacuating to a Red Cross shelter should bring essential items for each member of the family:

  • Prescriptions and emergency medications
  • Foods that meet unusual dietary requirements
  • Identification and important personal documents
  • Extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies and other comfort items
  • Supplies needed for children and infants, such as diapers, formula, and toys
  • Special items for family members who are elderly or disabled
  • Chargers for any electronic devices you bring with you
  • Books, games and other ways to entertain your family and yourself
