WASHINGTON - A rare and beautiful albino deer was spotted in Southeast D.C. early Friday morning.
FOX 5 viewer Sabrina Powell reached out to us to share photos and videos of the rare phenomenon. Powell said she saw the deer at about 6:55 a.m. as she was driving in Fort. Dupont Park.
“My thoughts were pure amazement,” Powell told FOX 5. “I just knew I had to stop and get a picture because no one would believe me.”
Powell said she loves to look at deer, which is one reason she began taking Fort Dupont Drive to get to work.
“It's just one of those things that makes the day better,” she said.
According to ProtectWhiteDeer.com, the albino deer are rare. The organization, citing John Bates, the author of “White Deer,” said with the chances of an albino deer being born are about one in 20,000.
FOX 5 reached out to National Park Service who said they were looking into the photos and video.
