The search for missing 4-year-old Maleah Davis is being suspended until flooding in the search area recedes.

A message on the Texas Equusearch website says the areas they planned to search today have been flooded. They message also says, "The rain may slow us, but it won’t stop, or discourage us from finding little Maleah."

On Wednesday, Houston police released new pictures of the stepfather's car that has not been located since the girl was reportedly abducted. The car is a silver Nissan Altima with Texas paper tags 330-92G9. The family provided that photos that were taken before her disappearance.

Texas Equusearch set up its command post on Tuesday in the parking lot next door to the apartments where Maleah Davis is said to have lived with her mom and stepdad when she went missing. Rain hampered search efforts. Some areas near Sugar Land received nearly a foot of rain on Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday, volunteers moved their search nearly an hour away from the original search scene and into southwest Houston where Maleah’s stepfather Darion Vence says he was left on a roadside on Saturday after being abducted in northeast Houston on Friday night.

Sugar Land is also the location where he told detectives he realized Maleah was missing on Saturday.

Sugar Land police say Darion Vence told investigators conflicting information. They say he first said he walked to Sugar Land Methodist Hospital after regaining consciousness Saturday following the alleged abduction. Then, Sugar Land police say he changed his story to say he was dropped off there by someone in a car.

Detectives say they have been looking for surveillance video in the Sugar Land area.

On Tuesday, a Houston police investigator told FOX 26 that Darion Vence is a person of interest in Maleah's disappearance.

Anyone with information that could help investigators find Maleah is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. You can leave an anonymous tip.
