President Trump implementing border changes, ICE raids: Border Watch with Jonathan Mejia
Border Watchers,
It's been a heck of a week. The news cycle just doesn't stop. It's been a week since President Donald Trump was sworn into office. I was reporting live from Eagle Pass at the southern border. I'll share more about my reports from the Del Rio border sector in just a bit.
President Trump is now implementing changes at the border that he promised during his campaign.
President Trump's immigration changes
Here are just a few:
- Declaring a national emergency at the southern border, which rushed resources and manpower to the region. At least 1,500 active-duty troops have been stationed at the southern border. Another 2,500 National Guard and Army Reserve troops have arrived.
- Targeted enforcement and removal operations across the country
- The elimination of the CBP One mobile application
And more changes are coming. President Trump has announced he wants to end birthright citizenship. A federal judge has temporarily placed a restraining order on that effort, effectively blocking Trump's executive order.

What's next:
Border Czar Tom Homan said this is only the beginning of what's to come. So I'll be keeping on this beat and providing updates right here on the Border Watch Newsletter.
As for my trip to Eagle Pass, I was given exclusive access to Shelby Park, where Governor Abbott declared a state of emergency, fortifying the park with anti-climb barriers, fences, and wire. You can watch that report on FOX Local. I also spoke with residents in the area about how they feel the incoming administration’s changes will impact their town.
