HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Houston Police have released a composite sketch of a man they believe to be responsible for shooting a man who was walking his dog in the Houston Heights last month. Police also released surveillance photos of the car the shooter is believed to have been driving—possibly a silver Chevrolet Malibu.
Houston Police released the sketch in a joint press conference with Baytown Police, announcing that the shooting could be related to two other shootings.
Police said the first shooting happened in July in the Houston Heights.
“It was also another shooting incident involving an individual who was walking down the street, but I don’t want to get into any more details,” said Houston Police Sgt. K. Mokwa.
Police said the second case was the drive-by shooting of Korean War veteran Sam Wingate back in August. The 84-year-old died at the hospital.
“Two gentlemen were going on their morning walk,” said Baytown Police Lt. Steve Dorris. “A vehicle drives by and fires several shots at them. One of those individuals was struck in the back.”

Police said the third shooting happened back in the Houston Heights on Cortlandt Street, just blocks from the first shooting and involved the man shown in the composite sketch.
According to police, Piotr Lewandowski was walking his dog October 16 when a man stopped his car, got out, and fired several shots at him, then took off. Lewandowski was hit twice by the gunfire but survived and is out of the hospital.
The surveillance photos of the shooter’s car look very similar to surveillance video released by Baytown Police in connection to the murder of Wingate.
Police say the shooter’s car and the random drive-by nature of the shooting have led them to link the case to the two other shootings—all unsolved crimes.
Houston police say the suspect believed to have fired the shots at Lewandowski is a dark skinned black man in his late 20s or early 30s, about 6’ to 6’2 tall.
The Crime Stoppers reward for information in the Baytown murder believed to be connected to both Heights shootings is still $20,000. Anyone with any information on any of these three cases is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
