The South Montgomery County Fire Department initially responded to a commercial structure fire and found heavy smoke and fire inside the building.

Firefighters from several other fire departments also responded to the scene to assist. As they battled the fire overnight, the fire was increased to 5-alarms.

The Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management said firefighters were still battling the fire as of 4:15 a.m. Officials said there were a lot of contained spaces in the building because it is a storage facility.

Authorities said there is significant damage to multiple storage units.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Officials said Sawdust Road from Grogan Mill Road to the entrance to Walmart and South Park from Westridge Drive to Sawdust Road are closed due to the fire.
