Time is up for Harris County residents affected by Harvey to apply for the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as D-SNAP. A large group of applicants waited outside the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston on Friday, but the line moved quickly as 950 state workers helped facilitate the process.
Hundreds of thousands of Houston-area resident applied and were granted the emergency assistance to help them purchase groceries following Harvey. An average family of four received $1,300 in aid.
Residents in Galveston and Wharton counties will have the opportunity to register for D-SNAP on Monday and Montgomery County residents can apply during the following week.
