Houston police are investigating an apparent murder and attempted suicide downtown Houston.  It occurred after 2 a.m. this morning.  Witnesses say they heard and saw a man and woman arguing inside of  a white SUV near 1700 Rusk at Avenida de las Americas in downtown Houston. Moments later, witnesses say two shots were fired.

The first witness was a Metro rail worker who flagged down a police officer about the shooting near the intersection.  Authorities arrived and found the driver--an adult Hispanic female dead inside and the male with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The man was transported to Ben Taub hospital and is currently in critical condition.

Both appear to be approximately in their 30's. The relationship between the man and woman is not yet known at this time. Police are currently interviewing several metro rail workers and others who witnessed the incident,  According to one security guard on patrol in the area, she saw a look of fear on the woman's face as the guard patroled the area nearby.  "They were going back and forth, and she was looking at me and i guess -- when she looked at me, he went crazy and didn't care and pulled out the gun," said the security guard.
