Lamar High School mourning death of two students dead in apparent murder-suicide
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Houston police are investigating after two teens were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds in an Upper Kirby apartment.
Officers were called to to The Park at River Oaks apartment complex on Buffalo Speedway around 5 p.m. Thursday, after a woman reported finding her son and his best friend dead.
Police say from the preliminary investigation, it appears to be a murder-suicide, but investigators are still examining the scene and gathering evidence.
Both of the boys were 15 years old.
On Friday, the medical examiner's office identified one of the two teen boys as 15-year-old Pierce Schwartz.
HISD released a statement Thursday night saying, "The Houston Independent School District is saddened to learn about the tragic deaths of two students from Lamar High School that occurred off-campus. We extend our deepest sympathies to each student’s family and friends, as well as the school community. The district is making grief counselors available at Lamar to assist school administrators and students."
Lamar High School students said there was a moment of silence held Friday morning in honor of the deceased students.
