HOUSTON, TX - A KIPP Explore Academy staff member was fired after an investigation into child indecency allegations. KIPP announced their findings of an investigation through a letter that was sent to parents on Monday, revealing accusations against staffer, Brandon McElveen.
McElveen was immediately placed on administrative leave when school leaders found out about accusations of indecency with a child against their staff member. He has now been terminated, according to KIPP Superintendent Sehba Ali.
"Today we were informed that a former KIPP Explore Academy staff member, Brandon McElveen, is being charged with indecency with a child. Mr. McElveen's employment with KIPP Houston Public School has been terminated."
The letter continued to reassure parents of safety on KIPP's campus, "We currently have a number of practices and policies to promote a safe environment across KIPP public schools." The letter emphasized, "We have protocol for staff, students, and families to report suspected abuse."
