Harris County Jail inmate died after being mocked, ignored by jailers, family says
HOUSTON - On Thursday, the family of Robert Terry Jr., the sixth inmate to die in Harris County Jail custody this year, announced that they are filing a civil rights lawsuit against the facility.
Terry's family is demanding a thorough investigation after discovering new alleged details about his time in jail.
The Houston man passed away in custody on May 16, following what officials described as an apparent medical emergency. Terry had been booked just three days prior to his death.

According to Attorney Allie R. Booker, new information has come to light indicating that the 32-year-old inmate was observed foaming at the mouth and experiencing periods of unconsciousness.
Additionally, he reportedly vomited excessively before his death. Inmates who spoke with Attorney Booker claim that over 90 minutes passed before Terry received any assistance.
"You know what jailers did? Laughed at him, taunted him. Told him nothing was wrong with him. Cursed him out," says Booker.
FOX 26 reached out to the Medical Examiner's Office for confirmation, but they stated that the report is not yet available.

Terry's family, like several others, is still awaiting information regarding in-custody deaths. Many of these cases lack details from forensics, Harris Health, or the Texas Rangers.
We reached out to the Sheriff's Office and Harris Health for comment, but they stated that they cannot provide any statements due to the pending litigation.
Funeral arrangements for Robert Terry Jr. have been scheduled for this Saturday.
