I-45 Gulf Freeway NB to I-69/ SH 288 SB connector demolition to begin

The Texas Department of Transportation will demolish and then rebuild a major downtown ramp beginning Friday night. The construction will affect traffic for six months.

The northbound I-45 Gulf Freeway connector ramp to southbound I-69 and SH 288 will be shutdown permanently at 9 p.m. Friday.

Currently the exit for the connector is on the left, and new one will be built on the right. The closure will be in place until construction of the new one is complete and the ramp is opened to traffic on June 28.

While the closure is in place, motorists who want to travel south will need to take an alternate route. TxDOT says drivers should continue northbound on I-45 Gulf Freeway along Pierce Elevated to I-10 East back to I-69 southbound.
