Humble ISD names Teacher of the Year

In a game day themed gala teachers and school officials met to honor those that serve our kids every day of the year. The Humble ISD Education Foundations Gala is held every year to honor the top ten teachers.

"I’m just honored to be nominated and represent my campus and to just even be here”, says first grade teacher Tricia Zinnecker.

Amanda Kopp, a fifth grade teacher also honored says, "so first I was named teacher of the year at Groves and then was chosen as one of the top 10 finalists for the district which was such an honor”.

Kopp was named the districts an Elementary Teacher of the Year and awarded a donated 2017 Jeep Renegade. "That’s insane to win a car but more importantly I think would be the honor of the district thinking that I’m deserving of being there teacher of the year to represent the district”, says Kopp.

Elizabeth Fagen, the districts Superintendent says, "there is just never enough recognition in education and for what teachers do every single day for the children in front of them they know everyone of them and they put them forward into so many different ways it’s just incredible opportunity to let them know that we really thank them for everything that they do”.

The second highest honored teacher received a all expense paid trip to the Florida Keys and all ten received iPads.
