On Tuesday morning, Houston police asked people to stay off the roadway. They said there had been 580 crashes since midnight, and more than 100 were due to the ice.

US-59 shut down in Sugar Land for icy conditions
US-59 in Sugar Land was shutdown in both directions overnight due to icy road conditions.
The mainlines of US-59 in Sugar Land were closed on Monday night due to icy conditions. The northbound lanes reopened around 10 a.m. Tuesday, and southbound lanes reopened about an hour later.
