Houston suspect Anthony Franklin charged with capital murder in 2016 death of Mark Anthony Thomas

A suspect has been arrested in the death of a man who was found strangled behind a club in 2016, Houston police say.

Anthony Franklin, 51, has been charged with capital murder in the death of 48-year-old Mark Anthony Thomas.

According to HPD, Thomas was found dead in his vehicle in the back parking lot of a club in the 3300 block of Old Spanish Trail on the morning of June 14, 2016.

Police say investigators suspected foul play at the time, and an autopsy conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences ruled Thomas' death a homicide by strangulation.

After further investigation, police say they developed Franklin as a suspect in the case, and he was arrested on Monday. He has been booked into the Harris County Jail.
