Houston father shot, killed confronting vandals
A Houston family is mourning the loss of a beloved father and husband who was shot and killed as he was confronting suspected vandals. FOX 26's Jade Flurt spoke with the victim's distraught family.
HOUSTON - A family is mourning the loss of a beloved father after he was shot on Saturday. The family said 37-year-old Osvaldo Casa was shot and killed while confronting vandalism suspects. It happened around 12:30 a.m. on the 600 block of Loper Street in southeast Houston.
"He was a loving father," said Judith Molina, Casas's wife.
Houston police said the man was shot and killed after confronting vandalism suspects. The victim's family said the night before the suspect threw flour and eggs on their vehicle.
"Next thing you know, he came out by himself. After that, the family and the neighbors, everyone heard gunshots," said Lt. Willkens of the Houston Police Department.
Family members said Casas ran back to the house before he collapsed. His pregnant wife performed CPR until first responders arrived.
"I did it for maybe like 10 minutes until the police arrived, and they took over, but by that time I already knew he was gone. I knew he was gone," said Molina.
Casas's' family described him as a hard-working man who provided for their family as a HVAC technician. He had a love of watching football, especially his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. He leaves behind two daughters and an unborn son.

"He was so excited about our baby boy, due any day now," said Molina. The couple recently had a gender reveal.
The family is asking for the public's help in finding the person who took their loved one’s life.
"Just if you hear something, say something please," said Molina.
Neighbors say they saw a black SUV or truck leaving the scene.
