According to HCSO Assistant Chief Tommy Diaz, members of the multi-agency Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force located the suspect at a home on Wednesday morning, and there was brief standoff.
At some point, shots were fired. Asst. Chief Diaz says two deputies fired their weapons, and the investigation will confirm if the suspect also fired his weapon.
The suspect was pronounced dead. Authorities did not identify him but said he was one of four suspects in a case from May in Houston.
No law enforcement officers were injured.
The Houston Police Department says their officers were not among the law enforcement agencies that were executing the warrant, but their agency will lead the investigation because it occurred in city limits.
HCSO will also conduct an investigation into administrative policies, and the Harris County District Attorney's Office will investigate as well. Once the investigation is complete, authorities say the case will be presented to a grand jury.
