Replay: Downtown Houston Rodeo Parade 2025

A parade took over Downtown Houston Saturday morning to usher in Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Floats, marching bands and thousands on horseback filled the streets as spectators line the route for this annual tradition.

Parade route & start time

The parade began at 10 a.m. at Bagby and Walker. It traveled down Walker, turned right on Travis, turned right at Bell, right on Louisiana, left on Lamar, and ended at Lamar and Bagby.

Organizers say the best places to see the parade are on Louisiana, from Bell to Lamar, Lamar, and from Louisiana to Smith.

2025 Grand Marshals

U.S. Army Commanding General James E. Rainey, U.S. Navy Rear Admiral James P. Waters, and U.S. Marine Corps Brigadier General James A. Ryans II are serving as Grand Marshals of the parade this year.

The three military branches are celebrating 250 years of service this year.

About the trail rides

The backstory:

Every year leading up to the rodeo, riders on horseback and in carriages make their way to Houston, their journeys spanning dozens of miles and multiple days.

Eleven trail rides converged at Memorial Park on Friday ahead of their participation in the Downtown Rodeo Parade on Saturday.

Trail riders come from diverse backgrounds and span all ages. Some trail riders have multiple generations.
