Houston restaurant serves up Astros player's favorite meal
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - We all have our favorite restaurants to visit and Astros players are no different. In fact, infielder Alex Bregman is not quiet when it comes to a meal he loves.
That meal from The Moonshiners Southern Table + Bar is none other than The Brisket Grilled Cheese. So what's in it?
"We smoke it here for 12 hours. Thick, buttered Texas toast. We put two types of cheeses on it. It's going to be cheddar cheese and pimento cheese," says Moonshiners Manager Jensea Elfert.
Normally ordering two when he visits, Bregman's favorite brisket sandwich is also favorite among Astros.
"I got the Brisket Grilled Cheese," says Kyle Kray who spent his lunch break with two other friends, recommending the $11 sandwich.
Open for going on three years, Moonshiners is not too far from Minute Maid Park and has been Bregman's go-to especially after a game, according to his Twitter.
"He's become part of the family here. He knows all of the staff by name. He treats them well. He invites them out to different games and everything," says Operating Partner Daut Elshani.
And according to these faithful patrons of this joint that prides itself on southern hospitality, the Astros are looking good.
"They're young. They're firey. They never get too flustered. Whenever they're down, they're not out. If it's not our hitting coming through, it's our pitching coming through," says Kray.
