Houston police terminate officer after investigation into use of force incident

The Houston Police Department has announced they've terminated an officer following an investigation that was announced in December. 

According to a statement posted in December 2024, the Houston Police Department was made aware of a video showing a use of force incident involving a detention officer at the Joint Processing Center in January 2024.

Authorities stated the former detention officer involved entered the Houston Police Academy in April and graduated in November and was employed as a probationary police officer. 

Houston police said that individual was notified on Thursday that he will no longer be employed by the department.
