Houston police investigating fatal shooting of mother of two
HOUSTON - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a mother of two on the city's east side Sunday night. The shooting happened around 9:45 p.m. at the Timber Ridge Apartments in the 12200 block of Fleming Drive near the East Freeway.
"I heard some shots, woke me up out my sleep last night," said Dominic Clemons, a witness. "When I woke up I saw the ambulances everywhere, firetruck, police."
According to police, a man, woman, and two young children were inside their apartment when two men tried to break in. Police say two children are approximately ages one and three-years-old.
"According to him, a couple of males possibly who are related to each other who he knows, but their relationship is unclear. He’s run into them before out here, came over and tried to rob him in the apartment," said Lt. Casko, of the Houston Police Department.

Police said a shootout occurred between the woman and the intruders. The woman was shot and killed. The man and children were unharmed.
"During that robbery there was an exchange in gun fire," said Casko.
The Houston Police Department hasn't confirmed the name of the shooting victim. However, family members said she is 26-year-old Hope Renee Saenz. They said "she was a very loving mother to her children. She was a hard worker, a loving sister, a daughter, aunt, and niece."
Police say a robbery seems to be the motive behind the shooting.
