Houston chase: Police audio during chase of vehicle that crashed into house

Listen to police audio after a vehicle crashed into a house in Houston on Thursday morning.

According to Rosa Hernandez, the police car almost hit her moments before it drove right into her home. Hernandez had been in the front yard mowing the lawn.

"I was really scared," said Rosa Hernandez. "I was right there. I saw the cars coming. They almost killed me. I’m glad I’m alive. It was like a foot apart."

There’s now a giant hole in the living room of the Hernandez family’s home. Rosa says they moved in about three weeks ago.

"I know they have to get the robbers, the bad people, but they have to be careful," said Hernandez.

Surveillance video shared by one of the homeowners shows police running towards the suspect’s crashed car. One of the officers has a gun pointed at the suspect and is telling them to open their car door slowly with their hands up.

"I’m kind of frustrated something like this happened out of a traffic stop," said Felipe Perez.

Perez’s parents live in the home hit by the suspect’s car. There’s a big hole along the front wall and a bedroom.

"You can see the front wall is all destroyed," said Perez. "There was a closet here with some clothes and other personal items."

The driver from the chase was arrested. No one was injured. Police haven’t shared details with FOX 26 relating to the chase or why the driver was initially pulled over.

"You can’t let the officer go," said Perez. "You have two family lives that changed. Somebody could have died. That’s the worst part."
