Houston Police: Armed passenger held driver hostage after traffic stop
HOUSTON - Police say an intense situation in west Houston came to a dramatic conclusion where a driver was held hostage by an armed passenger.
HPD SWAT and the Negotiation Team were called to the scene in the 4000 block of Belle Park Dr. following what initially began as a simple traffic stop.

According to police, when they got to the car, heard the sound of a gun cocking and found the driver was being held hostage at gunpoint.
After several hours of negotiating, investigators say the suspect finally let the driver out of the car and surrendered himself moments later.
Investigators say the driver and the suspect had open felony warrants, so were both taken into custody.

Officials say weapons and drugs were recovered inside the car but are still looking into what led up to the incident between the driver and passenger.
