Houston man shot twice in robbery while trying to defend restaurant customers
HOUSTON - A Houston man is recovering after getting shot twice during an armed robbery in mid-October. The shooting took place at a Wingstop located off Scott Street in Houston’s Third Ward.
"This is my surgery wound," said Mario Allen. "This is my bullet wound number 1. This is my bullet wound number 2."
Allen runs a non-profit called Universal Super-Heroes & Associates (USA). Their mission, to help clean Houston.
"[We] pick-up trash, clean-up the community, and mentor people," said Allen. "We make sure they have a positive mind frame."
However, on that October day, Allen had been working at Wingstop as a cook. That’s when surveillance video showed four robbers storm into the restaurant armed with a gun. At some point during the struggle, Allen was shot twice in the stomach.
"I was worried about the gun dropping and hitting somebody," said Allen. "That’s why I didn’t do what I wanted to do. I wasn’t really afraid. I was more afraid for everyone else. I knew I wasn’t going to die."

Houston police released new pictures of the alleged robbers on Tuesday. Investigators believe two of them had been lookouts, while the other two stole money from the restaurant’s cash register.
"Vengeance is mine says the Lord," said Allen. "They’re not going to get away with it, even if they’re never caught."
Allen continues his healing process. He says he looks forward to getting back to work and cleaning Houston through their non-profit.
"Sometimes I want to go to the backroads and what I used to know and handle things myself," said Allen. "Like God said, "Vengeance is mine says the Lord." You’ve got to let the man that created everything handle the situations that are out of your control."
