Houston firefighters on scene of 2-alarm fire

Houston firefighters are working to contain a 2-alarm fire at the Houston Marriott Westchase.

The Houston Fire Department has gained control of a 2-alarm fire at the Houston Marriott Westchase, officials said. 

Officials said the fire sparked up just before 10:15 p.m. on the 2900 block of Briarpark, near Westheimer.

Numerous guests reported heavy smoke on floors six, seven and up to the top as they were evacuating. 

140 firefighters were called out to assist in evacuating the hotel guests and getting the fire under control.

The cause of the fire and origin of the fire is currently under investigation by Houston arson.

No injuries were reported to hotel guests or firefighters.
