Houston fire: Body found in burned pickup truck at home on Wickersham

HOUSTON - A person was found dead in a pickup truck after a fire in southwest Houston on Wednesday morning, authorities say.

The Houston Fire Department’s Arson Division and the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division are investigating the fire at a home in the 7800 block of Wichersham.

According to HFD, the call initially came in as a pickup truck on fire. When crews arrived, the fire had spread to a second vehicle in the driveway, the home and the garage.

While firefighters were putting out the blaze, they discovered a body in one of the vehicles, officials say.

The fire department says a family was in the home but was able to escape.

Authorities did not indicate if there is any relationship between the family and the person who died.

The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation, as is the person's identity and cause of death.
