HOUSTON - A man is dead, and a suspect is on the run after an alleged shootout in north Houston on Thursday.

According to Houston police, the shooting occurred on East 44th Street in the Independence Heights area of Houston, just before 2:30 p.m.
Officials say a 70-year-old man was found shot at the scene. Police provided first aid until medics could take him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
