HOUSTON - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash after a child was hit by a car in North Shepherd and Tidwell on Saturday.
Around 8:30 p.m., authorities received calls of a pedestrian hit by a car. Officers say they had found a boy, believed to be a pre-teen or in his early teens, who had been struck. Medical officials pronounced the child dead at the scene.
Police say witness accounts and video indicate that the boy was crossing Shepherd from east to west when he was struck by a vehicle in the southbound lanes.
Police say the boy was not in a crosswalk, and traffic had the green light at the time.
The driver remained at the scene, and police say he is cooperating with the investigation.
