Houston Astros history contained in one room...for now

There has been a lot of Astros history in the city of Houston and to store and protect the items tied to the team, one special room in Minute Maid Park is designated. Inside that room that most people do not have access to, are a combination of things you have seen and many things you have likely never seen.

Mike Acosta has been with the Astros for 19 years and for the last eight years, he has served as the official authentication manager for the team. You can consider him as a sort of museum curator or team historian.

Acosta's duties entail watching every pitch from every game to document all things Astros related, including balls, bats, jerseys and even cleats.

There is even one of the first models of the Astrodome, which may come in handy if the real thing is ever demolished.

If you look closely, you'll even find some empty champagne bottles.

As far as the current team goes, one of second baseman Jose Altuve's jerseys is already being archived.

An avid Astros fan since he was a child, Acosta feels honored to be entrusted with preserving things that have sometimes been forgotten in other cities that have a professional baseball team.
