According to Constable Mark Herman, constable deputies responded to a call about possible theft suspects in the store.

The constable says Walmart employees saw a male and a female suspect in the store and recognized them from a flyer put out by security from another Walmart location about people suspected of stealing from that store.

"That’s what alerted them in the first place to these suspects, when they saw them filling baskets up in the store. And at some point last night, their manager approached the male and female, and they just decided to leave the store," Constable Herman says.

When deputies arrived, Constable Herman says the manager pointed them toward the suspects who were in a vehicle in the parking lot.

According to Constable Herman, the constable deputies ordered one of the suspects out of the vehicle, but the suspect had a gun and began to shoot at them.

The constable says the constable deputies returned fire, striking the suspect. The suspect died at the scene.
