HOUSTON - The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a homeowner opened fire on a suspect who stole a BBQ pit from the homeowner.
The shooting occurred on the 15000 block of Ralston Road and Kentington Oak.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the suspect had stolen the homeowner's BBQ pit from his home.
Authorities said the homeowner left his home and gave chase to the suspect in his own vehicle.

Gonzalez said the homeowner later caught up with the suspect and confronted him about the incident a short distance away.
When the homeowner got out of his vehicle and confronted the suspect's vehicle, he believed the driver of the vehicle had possibly retrieved a weapon.
Fearing for his safety, authorities said the homeowner fired several times at the suspect, striking him, authorities stated.
A second person, who was in the car with the suspect, wasn't injured and isn't being charged, authorities said.
Gonzalez stated the homeowner cooperated with investigators and provided a detailed statement about the incident.
Following the investigation, the case will also be turned over to the Harris County District Attorney's Office for presentation to a grand jury.
