Harris County shooting: Man shot multiple times by deputy

FOX 26 Reporter Randy Wallace has the latest on the investigation after a man was shot multiple times by a deputy on Friday evening.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating following an officer-involved shooting on Friday evening. 

In a news briefing on Friday, officials said the shooting occurred in the 14600 block of Henry Road after deputies responded to a call for a family disturbance.

Officials said they received multiple calls about a person armed with a knife. 

When officials arrived, they found a suspect holding a metal bat. 

Authorities said multiple commands were given to the suspect to put the bat down, but he didn't comply. 

Then, officials stated, the suspect started charging at the deputy, and that's when the deputy fired. 

The suspect was shot multiple times by the deputy, who has been with the department for three years, officials confirmed.

The suspect, who is said to be 30-years-old with a violent criminal history, was taken to the hospital and is said to be in serious condition. 

Upon further investigation, authorities said there was a disturbance between the mother and the suspect, who is the mother's son.

Authorities said they have been out to the home within the past four years. However, they were for other incidents. 

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
