Harris County Sheriff identifies man killed in Sunday morning Channelview crash

CHANNELVIEW, Texas - The Harris County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who was killed in a crash early Sunday morning as 39-year-old Jose Montanez.
Deputies were called to the 900 block of Becker Street in Channelview around 6 a.m.
The emergency responders found a single vehicle crash and the driver was dead on the scene.
Preliminary investigation shows the driver missed a curve in the road and crashed into a concrete driveway culvert.
Officials say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was speeding at the time of the crash.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez says two travel-sized bottles of liquor were found on his person. His blood-alcohol content will be revealed once his autopsy is completed.
County officials say Montanez's next of kin have been notified.
