Harris County Sheriff is asking for prayers after a deputy was reportedly shot.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a 29-year-old patrol deputy was shot in the 13500 block of Homestead Road around 7:39 p.m. during a traffic stop.

Dispatchers received reports about an officer down soon after he went out on traffic work.

The deputy was taken to the hospital by life flight and is in surgery, said Gonzalez. He is said to be in surgery and in critical but stable condition.

He was shot at least twice in his upper torso, officials confirm. He has been with HCSO for one year and three months.

Gonzalez says the person of interest left the scene after the shooting.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has issued a Blue Alert for Terran Green, 34.

Officials have described him as a Black male last seen wearing a gray shirt and black shorts with short hair and brown eyes.

He is possibly driving a 2016 royal blue or dark shade of blue, Ford Escape with black tint with a Texas license plate number SVJ6590.

Green has five prior felony convictions and has been to prison three times.

He was sentenced to two years for Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon but did not serve the full two years.

Green bonded out on April 1 on two other charges. One charge of Aggravated Assault of a Family Member on a $50,000 bond and a second charge of felony Possession of a Weapon on a $5,000 bond. His total bond was $55,000.

In the Aggravated Assault of a Family Member charge, he pulled a gun on his girlfriend and said "I'm going to end you."

DA asked for no bond but Judge DaSean Jones let him out on the $55,000 bond. He was supposed to appear in Judge Jones's court but didn't show up.

He forfeited the bond in May, so he was wanted by authorities.

Governor Greg Abbott tweeted that DPS Special Agents have been deployed and sent prayers to the deputy and his family.
