Officials said the man and woman sustained gunshots and were airlifted to the hospital.

Preliminary information revealed that a suspect or suspects, armed with an assault rifle, opened fire striking the man sitting in a vehicle, officials said.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said it appears a bullet penetrated a home, striking a woman.

Officials said the man is in critical condition, while the woman's condition is currently unknown.

Gonzalez said two children were in the home at the time of the shooting, but weren't injured.

A school bus was also in the vicinity at the time dropping off kids, but there were no reported injuries.

Gonzalez said the suspect or suspects fled the scene in a black-colored vehicle.
