HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Imagine walking into your house and coming face to face with a deer.
"I opened the door, and about 15 feet in front of me, was a deer just staring at me," said Courtney Hawk. "We just stared at each other for probably 15 to 30 seconds, because I had no idea how to process a deer standing in my kitchen."

Since she came through the garage, Hawk didn't know the deer crashed through a window.
Hawk says she had spent the night at her boyfriend's house and the deer had been in her house for about 24 hours.
Not knowing what to do, she says she called 911, and Precinct 4 Constable Deputies showed up.
"He opened the front door, and he opened the back door over here," said Hawk. "He used his baton to try to get the deer to go. Unfortunately ,the deer said finders keepers and ran into my bedroom instead."
The deer caused some damage.
"All my belongings were spread out. He managed to turn on the sink. All my belongings ended up in the sink, and the water was running over them," Hawk said. "He also managed to turn on the hair dryer."

It took two hours to get the deer out of Hawk's house.
A Harris County Livestock Officer shot the deer with a tranquilizer gun.
"I almost felt maybe I need to go play the lottery. What are the odds this would even happen?" said Hawk.
We asked her 11-year-old son, Evan Gadd, what his friends thought about the deer inside his house.

"They thought it was pretty hilarious and very weird," he said.
The deer was returned to the wild and will hopefully stay out of houses.
