Gangs of Harris County

Violent murderers, the scourge of the earth –  that's the picture President Trump painted Tuesday about gang members in America. He specifically pointed out the MS-13 gang, saying the group is a major source of violent crime and destroying families.

“Tonight I am calling on Congress to finally close the deadly loopholes that have allowed MS-13, and other criminal gangs, to break into our country," President Trump said. "We have proposed new legislation that will fix our immigration laws, and support our ICE and Border Patrol Agents."

How bad is the gang problem problem in America and right here in Harris County?  We've obtained a 2017 Texas Gang Threat Assessment from state police and it says, “Harris County contains the highest concentration of identified and suspected gang activity in Texas.”

The most significant gangs are the Houstone Tango Blast, plus various sets of the Crips and Bloods including the 52 Hoover Crips and the 59 Bounty Hunters Bloods. Harris County also contains the highest number of members belonging to MS-13

The answer is gangs are very real around the country and right here in our own backyard. The numbers don't lie. But how big of a threat are these gangs to our way of life? On the Factor to hash it out is Michael Knox, a former HPD officer, gang expert, and author of “Gangsta in the House - Understanding Gang Culture” and David Guillory with Don't Kill Me.
