Galveston police investigate officer involved shooting

GALVESTON, Texas (FOX 26) - Galveston police investigate an officer involved shooting that happened just before 6:00pm Thursday night.

It happened outside an apartment at 11th and Broadway. Galveston police say an off duty officer witnessed an argument involving a woman. Galveston police say the officer approached the woman, that he saw her holding a gun and that they aren't sure whether or not she fired first.

The woman was hit by a bullet and transported to John Sealy Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Galveston County Sheriff's Office as well as the Galveston County District Attorney's Office are investigating the shooting.
