Galveston helicopter crash: Investigation underway following afternoon crash

The FAA has completed their investigation following a helicopter crash in Galveston on Tuesday afternoon. 

Officials said the crash occurred on near Fifth Street at the Seawall.

According to authorities, a pilot was starting the day getting the helicopter ready around 12:30 p.m. 

We're told the pilot tried to lift off when the rotor blade hit the ground and flipped the helicopter.

Only the pilot was on board and had to be extricated from the helicopter. The pilot was not injured. 

Officials stated the helicopter, which is owned by Galveston Helicopter Adventures, provides aerial tours of the island.

Officials also said a piece of a blade was found in a nearby parking lot. 

No injuries were reported following the crash.
