Friends and family honored the Good Samaritan who died trying to stop a shooting suspect from getting away.
T.J. Antell, 35, was killed Monday when he confronted a suspect who police say had just shot his wife at an Arlington Walgreens.
The father of three was a former marine and a CrossFit trainer.
“He was a caring, compassionate, and responsible individual to family, to friends, and as evident now, to strangers,” said Antell’s cousin, Chris Spates.
Police say Antell was killed after stepping in during a fight between Ricci Bradenn and his wife, Quinisha Johnson.
“People may say he should've minded his own business, or just stayed in his lane, but those are the same people that will never stand and face evil to protect the innocent,” said Spates.
Through it all, friends say Antell will be remembered as a hero.
“His courage to come to the aid of a stranger when no one else would, for which I will always remember him as a hero,” said friend T.C. Webb. “You are my hero, my friend.”
Bradden is in jail on $500,000 bond.
Johnson said she extends her sincerest condolences to his family.
