FOUND: University of St. Thomas student Angela Nguyen found safe
HOUSTON - Texas EquuSearch confirms University of St. Thomas student Angela Nguyen, 21, has been found. Nguyen was reported missing in Houston's Montrose area on Jan. 22.
Dozens of volunteers from Texas EquuSearch searched for Nguyen at the University of St. Thomas. According to a spokesperson from EquuSearch, the Houston Police Department wanted them to search around the St.Thomas campus.
“She walked out the door,” said David White from EquuSearch. “That camera of the door of the dormitory room is the last thing that exists from her.”
Prior to Saturday afternoon, Angela Nguyen hadn’t been seen or heard from since January 22nd. On that Wednesday evening, surveillance cameras recorded her leaving Guinan Hall at the University of St. Thomas.
“I was really shocked to learn that a student was missing, especially because she’s from Guinan and I live here,” said Juliett Fluchaud, a sophomore.
Volunteers from Equusearch walked the campus on Saturday holding flyers and looking for clues. Late in the evening, Nguyen’s father confirms that HPD told him that his daughter had been found safe.
“I saw her the day before she went missing,” said another student. “It’s crazy that one day you see her, and the next, this happens.”
“It’s quite scary,” said Fluchaud. “I feel more unsafe now. I feel a little bit stressed when I go out. I’m thinking of her when I go out at night.”
Authorities haven't released any details about where she was found or where she was during the eight days she was missing.
The University of St. Thomas released the following statement:
"The University of St. Thomas community is overjoyed that Angela has been found and is safe. We are grateful to all of those who offered their prayers and assistance in locating her."
