School officials said the former teacher is no longer employed with the district.
Officials added the district launched an investigation after school officials were made aware, and the former teacher resigned amid the investigation.
School officials added the parents of the impacted student were contacted and involved in the investigation.
In a letter to parents, Woodcreek Elementary School Principal Ronnie Mosher said,
"Dear WCE Parents/Guardians and Staff,
You may be aware that this evening a local media outlet aired a story about a former WCE teacher. The individual, a Life Skills educator, was alleged to have assaulted a child in an incident that was filmed and provided to that outlet. We understand that the limited information available in the media report may be concerning.
I want to assure our parents that this incident was promptly reported, and an investigation was immediately initiated. After video evidence was received at a later date, the individual resigned during the investigation. The safety and well-being of our students, as well as ensuring they receive the best care and educational experience as WoodCreek Rangers, is our top priority.
We are grateful for the cooperation of those who provided information throughout the investigation and will continue to work closely with the agencies involved in reviewing or prosecuting the case."
