Family of Houston woman injured in Charlottesville asks for help bringing her home

HOUSTON, Texas - The family of 20-year-old Natalie Romero held a press conference earlier today to ask officials in Texas and Virginia to help them bring Romero back home to Houston for treatment.

"We are asking whether it be the governor of Virginia or local elected officials or our state government to help facilitate the transfer of Natalie to be with her here since her mother is unable to travel to Virginia," says Cesar Espinosa of FEIL Houston.

Romero is a sophomore of the University of Virginia. She received a full scholarship to the school after graduating with honors from Bellaire High School. She was one of the counter protestors at Saturday's White Nationalist rally that was hit by a car that was driven into the crowd. One person was killed and 19 others were injured. 

"She's stable but she's in a lot of pain, she still doesn't remember what happened. She is with a lot of headaches and I just want my daughter back," says Romero's mother, Ericka Chavez. Romero was left with a fractured skull and damage to her face from the incident. Chavez says she is praying for the other victims and their families.
