Family of Houston woman killed by daughter speaks about how it has impacted their family
HOUSTON - Homicide at the hands of a loved one sparked many questions. The family of 58-year-old Nikita Broussard-Johnson spoke with FOX 26 Tuesday about how this has affected their family bond.
"It’s a lot to wrap our heads around. She had a personality that lit up the room everyone loved. She will always and forever be deeply loved and missed," said Shana Broussard.

Usually, high-profile cases of homicide by a loved one, like the Menendez Brothers or even Lizzie Borden, grab headlines and intrigue the mind, but it also happens in the Houston suburbs.
"We went to a game that day, we went out to eat, went back to my mother's. Then two hours later, I found out this news," said Shana, Sister of Nikita.
The news Shana was told on October 30 was that her sister was shot and had passed away. At the time, Pearland police took into custody her daughter, Carmen Danielle Johnson, 29.

The family told FOX 26, the shooting started with an argument.
"It ain’t the death, it's how she died," said Titus Jones, a cousin.
Although these deaths are not widely common, they can leave a family with mixed emotions. According to the Domestic Violence Defense, a legal firm here in Houston, homicides accounted for 0.1% of all family violence incidents in 2018.
"She was the family cheerleader for anything that was going on in someone’s life. She was always there, whether that be graduations or weddings or any family event, she tried to be there," said Tamica Lewis, a cousin.

A pillar in her family and In the community, Nikita was greatly involved at her alma mater, Jack Yates High School, where she will be honored.
The family tells us, the father, Roderick Glenn Johnson, 58, who was also shot and survived is doing well and will be released from the hospital soon.
